Kameen In The Community

In 1998 Dr. Kameen established an eye clinic, which serves hundreds of Baltimore City’s most underprivileged patients.  In the process Dr. Kameen and his family have remained extremely involved with the Helping Up Mission (www.helpingup.org) which serves poor and homeless men.  The Mission is a long term residential Spiritual Recovery Program for men with drug and alcohol addiction.  The 12 month residential Spiritual Recovery Program set in a 12 step therapeutic community is the centerpiece of Helping Up Missions efforts – focusing on the intellectual, physical, social and spiritual needs of every man served.  Dr. Kameen served on the Board of Directors for six years and now his wife, Christine, serves in that capacity.  Christine was directly involved in the interior design and renovation of the 95,000 square feet of facility space recently completed.  Dr. Kameen’s three sons have each spent hundreds (and hundreds) of community service hours at the Helping Up Mission serving in the kitchen, learning center and various other areas.  The next time you are at our office please ask to see the pictures on display in our Helping Up Mission gallery!

Kameen Eye Associates was a proud sponsor of “Country Cares for St. Jude Kids”, a WPOC Radiothon benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Kameen presented WPOC’s Laurie DeYoung with a check made out to St. Jude as the staff of Kameen Eye Associates rolled up their sleeves to help answer the phones. The Radiothon raised $405,153.88 for St. Jude in two days! Click here to listen to Dr. Kameen’s interview with Laurie DeYoung.

Kameen Eye Associates is proud to have teamed up with Steve Rouse and 101.9 LITE FM in the fight to eliminate breast cancer. Kameen Eye Associates was an official sponsor of the 101.9 LITE FM race team for the 15th annual Race for the Cure benefitting the Susan G. Komen foundation. Not only did Kameen Eye Associates offer a monetary donation to support the team, we gave each of the team’s runners a commemorative tote bag to thank them for their part they played in the fight against breast cancer.

The staff of Kameen Eye Associates certainly didn’t have a “case of the Mondays” when they were asked to appear on WJZ-TV’s Manic Monday with Ron Matz! The extremely enthusiastic group rose before sunrise and met Ron Matz in Fells Point to sing their rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s Manic Monday during the 6:00 news. With props in hand (and a lot of coffee) Team Kameen belted out the lyrics to the song and were even invited back to compete during the Manic Monday Meltdown this winter!
