The Safety of Contact Lenses Compared to LASIK

Kameen Eye Associates is conducting a study, in association with the Cornea Research Foundation(Cornea.org), comparing the long term safety of daily contact lens use to Laser Vision Correction. Previous studies performed nationally and internationally have shown an increased likelihood of infection, abrasion and scarring with long term use of contact lenses. There has not been a similar association seen with Laser Vision Correction(either PRK or LASIK). This study, which will enroll 200 patients at Kameen Eye and thousands of others nationally, will document the safety of these vision correction methods. We will post our results online when the data has been reviewed. For further information, or to see if you are a candidate to be included in the study, please call 410.339.7200.
