To be able to wake up and see the clock in my room is still astonishing to me daily. I would also like to thank you for how comfortable you and your whole staff made me feel throughout the process.
- Megan, Patient
It is that time of year in which we all commit to doing those things which we have been putting off. Having an eye examination is often one of those things. I find that, frequently, my patients who have had Laser Vision Correction(Lasik or PRK) actually forget to ever have their eyes examined ever again! It takes our reminding them that they can develop cataracts, glaucoma and retinal problems even though they don't need glasses or contacts anymore.
Technology has advanced rapidly within Ophthalmology, and, in addition, my practice needs alot of sophisticated equipment many other practices don't have(because I use them for my advanced Lasik and Cataract surgery). The amount of information that can be gathered during a routine eye examination is astounding. Early stages of cataract, glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension, macular degeneration can be discovered by computer analysis of the eyes often 5-10 years before they are a problem for the patient. In terms of todays ocular technology, early detection leads to early treatment and visual preservation. It's as simple as that.
So, be sure to make an eye examination part of your end of year or New Year resolutions. Call or email the office for an appointment and let's cross that off of your "to do" list together!
