To be able to wake up and see the clock in my room is still astonishing to me daily. I would also like to thank you for how comfortable you and your whole staff made me feel throughout the process.

We will all be hearing alot more discussion about Advanced Technology Intraocular Lenses(ATIOLS) in relation to surgery for cataracts. For many decades, surgeons have used one style of Intraocular Lens called a Monofocal Lens. This style of lens worked wonderfully, but only at one visual point, usually in the distance. Currently, surgeons have access to a variety of IOL's that, after cataract surgery, have the ability to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and even the aging problem of the eye(presbyopia) that typically leads to the need for reading glasses. The use of ATIOLS, along with state of the art cataract surgery, allows for a tremendous decrease in dependence on eyeglasses of any sort, even reading glasses!
We are constantly working to make all surgical procedures, including surgery for cataracts, safer and more precise. I will be writing several blog entries over the next few weeks discussing these advances and going into greater detail on particular ATIOLS as they now have become the mainstay of my cataract procedure. Please watch the video attached to this entry and, as always, I invite any questions or comments.
